October 13th and 14th– evening conferences

October 14th-National Hot Lunch Day

October 15th– all day Conferences-
No School

The Book Fair is open before and after school.  The last day of the Book Fair will be October 15th.

October 16th and 17th – Fall Break – No School


Reading


We will be continuing practicing Daily 5. Book bags should be coming home about every night.  Your child should have the book title written in the appropriate space on his/her reading calendar. Please initial this and send it back to school with your child.

Social Studies


We have been talking about community.  We are building a Main Street complete with businesses and employees!

In math, we will be thinking about addition strategies and what we notice while using the 200’s chart.


Reading


We only have Read to Someone yet to introduce for Daily 5.  We continue to build our stamina on the other components while I have been assessing student’s reading.

Reading groups will begin after all the components of the Daily 5 are introduced and practiced. 


Classroom Dojo




Thanks to all for your support with Classroom Dojo. Your diligence to check and talk about your child’s behavior at school is very much appreciated.

Reminders


We are asking that each family send $15.00 towards our second grade class fund.  This money will aide in our journey of learning by funding many needed educational supplies throughout our academic school year.  If sending a check, please make checks payable to the classroom teacher.
